Active Road Studs (ARS), commonly known as “cat’s eyes,” are installed on road surfaces to significantly enhance the safety of road users.
These active road studs serve to better mark the road axis and highlight areas where accidents are more likely to occur — for example, pedestrian crossings. They substantially improve driving conditions, particularly in poor weather that limits visibility, as w

ell as during nighttime travel.

Thanks to ARS, drivers are better able to distinguish the edges of traffic lanes, even in situations where visibility is reduced. This greatly minimizes the risk of collisions caused by unintentional lane departure into oncoming traffic.

The Active Road Studs offered by Euroasfalt feature enhanced resistance to adverse operating conditions. They are not susceptible to damage caused by snow plows or gritters during winter and are highly resistant to abrasion from the wheels of heavy vehicles.

Each ARS consists of a module containing LED diodes and a cast-iron housing. Depending on the application, reflective elements in various colors may be used. Yellow ARS are typically installed before pedestrian crossings.
